Unlike many rating scales which seldom dip below a 5, treating it as "horrible", I try to use an absolute scale - in my case, 5 is a "neutral", 0 is "the most awful candle imaginable", 10 is "the perfect candle", and a 6 is "decent".
Upon opening this delightfully decorated candle - hosting an image of a reindeer within a winter-themed snowglobe, I'm met with a very comforting, homely scent which reminds me of Christmastide. There is a profound scent of cinnamon, with hints of caramel in the back. Now, it's important to remember, as with any scent, it's essential to master wafting.
As candles, perfumes, colognes, and essential oils are typically vaporized and enjoyed from a distance, the smell can be overpowering from up close, and cause nausea - or otherwise, take away from your enjoyment of the candle. Contrary to tobacco, these scents are meant to be enjoyed from a distance, and so as to not spoil the candle experience, ensure that you use your hand to waft the aroma towards your nose - rather than diving right into it and having a big whiff.
There lingers an almost "gingerbread"-like aroma, owing to the cinnamon, I'm sure; in combination with whatever scents are included, there is a strong "dough" or "cookie"-like afterscent. I'd made the mistake of slightly oversmelling the candle, and will hopefully be able to resume the review after gathering my thoughts.
Overall, this is a highly enjoyable candle.
Now, allow me to begin by saying that this is a fantastic candle. This one is decorated with a small car, reminding me somewhat of a Beetle, carrying a Christmas tree - continuing with the winter/Christmas theme!
Upon cracking the lid open, I'm hit with a rich, deeply complex aroma of a chocolate-orange blend - I must give my compliments to the designers of this scent, as the chocolate is a very elaborate kind. There is an immediate scent of cocoa, of course, but it fades to give way to a very toasted, slightly bitter smell; in combination with the consistent citrussy body, I'm reminded of a Terry's Orange.
For those that haven't had the opportunity to try this wonderful Christmas candy, the name of this candle is as apt a descriptor as any that I could surmise - "Chocolate Covered Orange" - it's a delightful holiday sweet that's quite popular in Canada. As far as I'm aware, it's also a fairly popular sweet in England, currenlty produced in Poland. Without getting too off-topic, it can best be described as a chocolate ball, with a very strong orange flavour. Amusing is the fact that it is cast in "slices", and then assembled into a ball - much like a real orange, it can be broken into sections, and enjoyed one at a time.
Getting back to the candle, I can only say that it must have taken plenty of thought to be able to recreate a scent so well, that I'm left with a taste of the real deal. I would recommend lighting this up around the holiday season, with the wood stove, or, if you have one, a fireplace going.
I must say, a delightful candle that brings back equally delightful memories.
